Hall Family

Page history last edited by Mary Ann Koferl 13 years, 2 months ago

Percy, Mildred, and Mary Hall were the siblings of Gilbert Lewis Hall. Percy was born in Brooklyn on July 6, 1874. He attended the public schools in Brentwood after  the family moved here. Percy went to New York in 1892 and took a job with a firm that sold wheelwrights’ and blacksmiths’ supplies. On June 8,1898, he married Winifred Kirkham, a teacher and descendent of Richard Stockton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. They moved to Farmingdale in 1906, and later to Amityville. During that time, Percy became successful in banking and real estate. He was also actively involved in civic affairs until his death in Amityville on October 15, 1948. Winifred was still living in Amityville in 1950.

Mildred Hall was born on October 26, 1878, in Woodstock, Vermont. She also attended the Brentwood Public Schools, later graduating from Pratt Institute and the Brooklyn Training School for Teachers. She then taught in the New York City public schools until her marriage to George Kilquist on June 27, 1906, in Brentwood. They had three children: Helen, Grace, and George, all of whom were still living in New York State as of 1950.

Mary Hall was born in Brooklyn on February 4,1884. She likewise attended the Brentwood Public School, as well as the Jamaica Normal School. She later taught at Brentwood for two years and then joined the New York City schools, where she continued to teach until her retirement in the late 1940s. As of 1950, Mary and Mildred were living together in Farmingdale. Mary never married.
