Morris W Molinoff

 Morris W. Molinoff died on May 29, 1982 at age 77.  In the 1930 Dr. Molinoff started a practice in Brentwood and served in the area for over fifty years.  He had an office and home on 4 Brentwood Court.  Dr. Molinoff was born in Russia in 1905 and moved to the United States when he was a child.  Dr. Molinoff grew-up on Staten Island and attended medical school at New York Medical College. Dr. Molinoff started his medical practice in Brentwood in the 1931. His office and home were located on 4 Brentwood Court.  Dr. Molinoff attended school in Europe where he learned surgical procedures and then began practicing surgery   at both Southside and Smithtown General Hopital.

 

Dr. Molinoff served as president of the Suffolk County Medical Association and as president of the medical staff at Southside Hospital.  Dr. Molinoff had two other brothers who practiced medicine on Long Island.

 

One of Dr. Molinoff’s greatest legacies was to assist in the founding of the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, an organization whose purpose is to assist libraries in Suffolk County with various services such as interlibrary loan, Internet services and Online resources including our online catalog. He was also cofounder of the Brentwood Water District and donated property near the railroad station for a municipal parking lot.  He also was the founder of the Suffolk Hebrew Academy.  He served as President of the Suffolk Cooperative Library Board for five years and was President of the Islip Town Planning Board for eight years.  He also served on the Brentwood Public Library Board for many years.  Dr. Molinoff and his wife, Dora, had one daughter Esther Vickers who gave the Molinoff’s two grandchildren.
